Yeah, I need a new headshot.
My name is Jonathan Ryan Garcia and I am a San Antonio, TX based photographer, musician and artist. Most people call me Jon. Shacky Buckets is a nickname I received when some friends and I wondered what we would be called if we were in a giant traveling bluegrass collective. So yeah, that's where that comes from. I specialize in event, street and product photography. I work a lot with small businesses in San Antonio but have had the opportunity to work with some big companies like USAA, 80/20 Foundation and Geekdom.
I started doing photography around 7 years ago when I discovered Instagram and bought a Sony DSLR at a pawn shop by my house. I was hooked instantly. I started off experimenting with long exposure shots and night photography. I knew my iPhone could take amazing pictures but I wanted to expand my creativity.
I started doing small gigs here and there mostly of my friends and family. Not until I started working for Apple, did I start taking photography more seriously. My transition to my current job in Downtown San Antonio allowed me to meet some great people and future clients. I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for the people who believed in me and mentored me. So thanks to y'all.
